Day 435 { My TV Show - Season 2 DVD } Thursday, May 28, 2009

Day 435 { My TV Show - Season 2 DVD }

I asked the office girl today at the school why is it that she don't have a boyfriend... And she said that I should answer the question because I am a male.... I told her that maybe it was because these jobs in Japan tend to want people to be busy...Or even pretend to be busy..... She then said maybe thats the reason....

Later in the evening, I collected the season 2 DVD of my show... This will be aired on Saturday, May 30, 2009... Again, this is only for people living in the area that I live and have cable..... Before they could allow me to do this show, even though its voluntary work.... They had to call my company and ask permission.... And they also said that to make certain that the show is not broadcast outside of this area.... ahh bwoy... And as I said, I am not getting even 1 yen.... As a matter of fact, I have to spend money to do this show... Because I have to drive to the locations which means burning fuel... But, I like doing this, unlike the radio show, so I am ok...

Here is a clip of it that I may have to take down soon

After collecting the DVD, I went to eat again with my landlord.....First after a long time.... This time he brought me to a new restaurant, and he didn't force me to eat strange tasting food...

Day 434 { Difficult English / Wolverine And GTA Liberty City Stories }

Day 434 { Difficult English / Wolverine And GTA Liberty City Stories }

The nurse at my school today is going to do some sort of test that involved some amount of English. And its not like the normal apple and banana English that I would teach... This is some serious grammar stuff that we in Jamaica would be getting in CXC... Why are they giving Japanese people that hardly study English to that level, these type of difficult questions???? I was trying to help out the lady but because of her limited English and my limited Japanese....It was proving to be a little difficult... some things she understood but others were just too difficult to explain..... For example, one question was about English proverbs....and the exercise wanted the Japanese persons to tell what :

"It never rains but it pours".... means in Japanese.

I was trying to tell the lady that its not literal rain.... But she still wanted to know why the proverb said Rain!!!.... I cannot explain that in Japanese at all..... I was trying to tell her that the rain signifies problems, but she still did not get it... Anyway,

Today I went to the ALT girl who need her laptop to be fixed. I collected her laptop then went to another ALT to borrow his Wolverine (PS3) and Grand Theft Auto Liberty City Stories (PSP) Games. He was explaining to me that to download the games to the PSP, we have to have a certain version of the firmware.... But first to do this, I would have to download a software to the memory stick to kind of hack the PSP...

I then went back to my apartment and went to bed at about 9pm...

Day 433 { First Meeting For New School Term } Tuesday, May 26, 2009

Day 433 { First Meeting For New School Term }

Today, the 7 ALTS that work for the same company as I do, went fr our first meeting of the new school year. It was held in the major city (Okayama city) of the prefecture as per usual, but this time in a different building that was a little difficult to find.....actually, an old Japanese lady had to help us find the place.....

Before the meeting, I followed one of the new ALTs to get a new hard disc for her laptop... it was a 320GB one she got for very cheap. So eventually we headed to the meeting and we met the new head guy for the very first time... He seem to be a very cool guy but he seemed very nervous. I noticed the meeting had wayy fewer persons than normal... So we queried that... Normally these meetings have like 60-80 persons... But this time it was about 30 persons.... They said the reason is because they split the group into 2.... Having a meeting for Northern Okayama and another meeting for Southern Okayama... Niimi is in the Northern portion... that is why it snows so much here.... The southern parts get very very little snow....and rarely does the snow stick on the road there...There were 3 new Jamaicans at the meeting ad another 1 who was transferred from Hiroshima branch to Okayama... This girl I knew before she came to Japan...And I was even giving her some information before she got here...But this was the first time I was actually meeting her. At this meeting, I solved the mystery of who was the one who lifted up my windshield wipers... And it was none other than Peter, a new ALT from England... However, thats only part of the mystery... Because he said he didn't lift the other ALTs wipers...Hmmmm

Anyway, after the meeting, I went to Kurashiki (The second big city in Okayama) and met up with my friend... She followed me to buy a new indoor soccer shoes and to eat some food.

Day 432 { More Taue たうえ - Rice Planting / North Korea Setting Off More Bombs }Monday, May 25, 2009

Day 432 { More Taue たうえ- Rice Planting / North Korea Setting Off More Bombs }

Today I made sure to take my camera to work because they told me earlier that today was the day for the rice planting... Several teachers asked me if I wanted to join but I turned down the offer...because I am not a big fan of mud and getting dirty... Nor am I big fan of insects and tadpoles... I mean several persons asked me why don't I try it out... I hope that they don't feel too bad that I turned them down... That stuff is just not for me...

The second guy in the picture was acting strange when I asked them if I could take a picture with them.... I didn't even pay him any mind....
Here is a video that I took of the event:

TAUE

So North Korea has tested another missile. And they have declared war on the USA and South Korea....... Based on the news stuff that I am reading, it seem as if North Korea is on edge to go into a war... And this has only been happening since Obama became president...... Why didn't they test out their military strength when Bush was around????? Maybe they knew that Bush wouldn't even wait for another second to start hurling missiles over there... Day 431 { Noisy Chinese} Sunday, May 24, 2009

Day 431 { Noisy Chinese }

Today I went to church with my Japanese friend...... Five (5) Chinese girls were there but they didn't have a translator. So they were kinda being a bit noisy trying to understand what the pastor's wife was saying.... Now knowing the pastor's wife and her family (except the youngest child who is about 18), they are the reserved type of traditional Japanese people who don't really like noise... So you could see her face kinda screwing up every now and again, and she was trying hard to play it off. My friend told me that she did however whisper something afterwards, that the Chinese girls were kind of being noisy. What I like about Chinese persons who I met generally, is that they don't behave hypocritical like many many of the Japanese people I know. Don't even bother trying to recognise the Chinese in the photo above because trust me, you cannot tell the difference, no matter how skilled you think you are....

Afterwards, I went to a restaurant which is within walking distance from my apartment. I went there with my Japanese friend and saw a couple of persons who I knew. When I was about to pay for my food, I saw where a teacher from one of the schools I teach at, staring me down... With a sly smile on hi face... and as soon as he noticed that I saw him, he quickly turned away his head in the usual Japanese manner....Stare you down, then turn away as soon as you move your head to look at them..... I know it was because I was eating with a Japanese girl.... This country area cannot manage the foreigners eating lunch with a Japanese person..... Seeing a foreigner is weird enough already...

I then followed my friend to rent transformers as she has never seen it before... So we watched it and she thoroughly enjoyed the excitement.

Richard NHK in Japan is kinda like TVJ in Jamaica .... But NHK is funded by viewers' payments of a television licence fee... Where if you have a TV inna yuh yard, yuh suppose to pay a fee.... But foreigners and some others tend not to pay this fee because its madness... Actually by law your are supposed to pay it.... But if you don't, then no big deal...They guys to collect the money will just come and bother you...thats the punishment...

Day 430 { TV Bill / Nissan May Get $100 Billion Loan } Saturday, May 23, 2009

Day 430 { TV Bill / Nissan May Get $100 Billion Loan }

Today, the man that want me to pay for having a TV in my apartment, appeared. He again was speaking only Japanese and no English... This time I actually understood what he was saying but I still refuse to pay this NHK bill that I don't know about...The reason why I answered my door in the first place, is because I am expecting a package and I thought this was it to my dismay... Well, after about 3 minutes of this man trying to speak Japanese to me and me telling him that I don't understand, he finally got fed up and left... Its the third time I am seeing him since I am here...

Nissan Motor Co. is likely to receive more than ¥100 billion in low-interest loans set up by the U.S. government to promote the development of and transition to electric vehicles and other fuel-efficient cars, sources said Friday.

Nissan is the first foreign auto maker that is close to winning approval for the direct loans, which would enable Japan's third-largest auto maker to research the production of zero-emission electric vehicles in the United States.

Day 429 { Karate Class / Japan Urged To Sign Hague Convention Bill } Friday, May 22, 2009

Day 429 { Karate Class / Japan Urged To Sign Hague Convention Bill }

Today after work, my friend followed me to karate class. I have always wanted to attend karate classes since I left high school. I was going to start tai kwon do in university but I just couldn't bother... So I went today just to see how they conducted the classes, check out the price and meet the gym leaders there... My friend spoke to the persons in charge and they said I don't have to pay... I can go there any time and even help them out with English... And I am free to participate.... I was like wow!!! I guess being a foreigner in Japan does have its advantages...

One of the gym leaders speak some amount of English and he said he spent 4 years in England.... However that was 10 years ago and living in Niimi, does not help your English at all... So he said many of the words he don't remember. His English was pretty good though....

So in karate, these are the belt levels:

White
Gold
Green
Purple
Blue
Blue Adv.
Red
Red Adv.
Brown
Brown Adv.

Black 1st-10th degrees

This instructor is a 10th degree black belt... His dad who is an instructor in this gym also... is a 10th degree black belt as well... Me, I am somewhere at the level before the white belt.... Because I have no training whatsoever in karate... this was going to be my first class.... So the guy who could speak English, started me off with some basic punching techniques. I had to do a certain stance like the sumo wrestlers, known as the "Shi ko dachi" stance. Then do some sort of twist punches... I had to do this several times...This guy said he spends a good hour or so every single day, doing this alone... He then taught me some kicks..... some basic forward kicks... These kicks were a little more difficult than the punches....

In the training, there was this one 1st degree black belt girl who is in her final year of high school... along with this 1st year junior high school guy (first form / 7th grade in the Jamaican system) who is also a 1st degree black belt.... The teacher then got this very very heavy punching bag thing, and told me to practise my punches and kicks on it..... I did for a while... and he said I improved greatly within the hour or so.....Of course, every now and again he had to be correcting my stance...

After the Karate lessons, I went to the English conversation class, where one of the ladies who attended told me that she really likes reggae music and asked if I could get some music for her...

In my blog on Day 383, I mentioned that in Japan, if you have a child with a Japanese national, then things didn't quite work out.... Well the Japanese national can run away with your child and there is nothing you can do about it... Because Japan did not sign the Hague Convention on the Civil Aspects of International Child Abduction... But now, Japan is being urged by some of their big dog allies like The United States, Canada, France and the U.K. to sign to this Convention.

The convention states that children who are abducted from their country of residence, or retained in a state that is not their country of normal residence, must be returned promptly to their original country of residence.

More than 80 countries have signed the convention, but Japan is the only nonsignatory state among the Group of Seven nations.

Among abductions involving Japanese whose parents have wrongfully taken or kept their children, Britain has reported 36 cases since 2003, with none of them resolved. There are currently 11 active cases, said David Fitton, deputy head of mission to the British Embassy in Japan. France has had 26 cases, half of which are still active, and the U.S has 73 active cases. The full story is here

Day 428 { Im Exhausted / Minister Urged UN To Help Developing Countries / Panasonic To Cut Jobs } Thursday, May 21, 2009

Day 428 { Im Exhausted / Minister Urged UN To Help Developing Countries / Panasonic To Cut Jobs }

Today was work as normally...But I was extremely exhausted by the third period of class...Darn, I need to get some more sleep at nights/mornings... After lunch today, to avoid sleeping off at my desk, I decided to go on the field and play with the kids... Then after that I decided to help them clean the gym....All they do every single day is walk around with the big mop from the top to the bottom of the gym...So I did that, but then shortly after that, the grade 3 teacher who is new came... She basically asked a kid why was I there mopping the gym as well...She probably think I didn't understand her. The worst thing is that she seemed upset... The kid then explained to her that I simply volunteered ... and she seemed ok after that...

After work, I went to my apartment then to bed at about 8pm...because I was so exhausted...My mother then woke me up with a call then I went back to bed again...Another call woke me up at about 11:30 pm..then I finally got up again at 2am... I stayed up for a while then back to bed at 6am to take a small nap.... Ohh boy big mistake...

Anyway, Jamaica’s Minister of Agriculture and Fisheries, Dr. Christopher Tufton, yesterday morning, called on the international community to put aside it’s business as usual mindset in favor of urgent, concrete action for the benefit of small island states struggling to meet their development goals. .... I think this was a bold step as you don't normally hear anything about small countries in UN business. The story is here GLEANER.

The head of Panasonic will recieve a 30% pay cut... and they are planning to do massive job cuts... They plan to cut 15,000 jobs and close 40 production facilities world wide...... Panasonic is actually 5th in the world in global TV share.....First is Samsung, followed by LG, then Sony, then Sharp.... Sony lost its place to LG

Richard why yuh nuh guh bout yu business an leave mi alone!!!! I WILL NOT BECOME LIKE THAT MAN WHO YOU SPEAK OF !!!!!!!! --That black taxi yellow cab bredrin...---- Him jus have an interesting story fi tell.... I identified that girl in the picture because mi jus did want unnu know is who.. yuh si mi...

Day 427 { New PSP But Small Problem / Radio Show #6 / New Pointer Mouse } Wednesday, May 20, 2009 [ 1 Year, 2 Months ]

Day 427 { New PSP But Small Problem / Radio Show #6 / New Pointer Mouse } [ 1 Year, 2 Months ]

Yes its 1 year and 2 months since I am here in Japan now.....Ohh and the 6th instalment of my show "Dave touishoni, fun, entertainment and learning" is at Camnet.jp/radio .. I am just basically giving a boring talk about Japan...

Today I got a haircut after work.... My friend who normally give me the air cut was a little sick...but she still decided to go ahead...The hair cut wasn't too bad...But the last time was a little better than this time around.... After the haircut, I stopped at a game store to check out the prices and see if I could get any deals or what not...I ended up buying Monster Hunter 2nd for the PSP... I got it for only 1900 yen...

After buying this game, I thought to myself that hey, there must be a cheaper way to acquire psp games... So back at my apartment, I started researching on the internet..... So I see where we can download games to the PSP.....however after hours of downloading and trying all sort of stuff... I realised that the PSP that I bought was a newer version...and its actually the old versions that allow these downloadable games to work...and guess what??? I can't reverse the version or anything of the sort, based on the latest information on the internet... As a matter of fact... I can't even play movies or music on it, if I dont have the proper UMD disc (the small discs that work with the PSP)... Ohh boy, I should have done my research before I made my purchase....ahhh I am realizing now that I am wayyyy to impatient and hasty when I really want something...So I do little or no research.... My mom was right about me... she has always been telling me since I was growing up that I am too hasty..... I am really going to try and calm down on that side...Help me Lord...

Anyway so there is a new mouse created by a company known as FILCO......They call it the air mouse... It works similar to that of the Nintendo Wii where you can move it around and the cursor on the screen moves around as well... you don't need any surface at all... I would like one of these but now they are a little too expensive... more about it can be found here

Day 426 { Japanese Beauty / My Picture Presentation } Tuesday, May, 2009

Day 426 { Japanese Beauty / My Picture Presentation }

Today after going to my main school for 1 class, I then went to the kindergarten...The principal there was so busy that when I got there she didn't even realize that I should be there today. She even was looking at me in away as to say "Yes sir how can I help you today" .... She then snapped out of it and came back to reality, looked at her calendar and realised that she was possibly in some sort of busy trance that many Japanese teachers fall in...She then apologised profusely in usual Japanese manner... I then started teaching the 5 year old children about fruits... Most of them knew the English names already but there was still a few that didnt know.....The kids are absolutely adorable..... One kid kept saying Dave sensei, after every 5 mins or so... I remember at one point when the place was silent and I was about to ask them to repeat "strawberry" after me...and the kid shouted out "Dave sensei" again .... to which the other kids laughed non-stop.... When it was time to go, the kids again didn't want me to leave....But I managed to worm my way through them.

After this, I went to pay my car tax... I didnt know what area exactly to go to, as this building was like a mini mall... So I was there walking up and down until I finally found it after 10 mins or so...When I got there I saw this Japanese lady looking bored...So I told her excuse me (Sumimasen)... She then initally had the usual "What the heck!!! a black guy in Niimi!!!" look on her face but she quickly played it off... I asked her if this was the place to pay the car tax and she said yes... That lady was soooo beautiful beyond my description.... let me join the band wagon in declaring that Japan has some of the most naturally beautiful females on this planet.... Some are not so hot but when they are hot, they are extremely hottt.....This is not a very good place for me who occasionally get myself into some sort of trouble with women... But that story is for another day... But many a foreigner fall prey to these Japanese girls who sometimes tend to be overbearingly jealous and insecure....

Anyway, later in the evening I did a picture and video presentation on my activities since early April... This includes both my visits to Kobe ( Day 395 and Day 412 ), the reggae concert in Niimi ( Day 402 ) and the one love concert in Tokyo ( Day 416 ).. I also showed them some video clips of these events... Before I knew it, 1 hour and 15 minutes passed by so quickly..... After the presentation, the girl in the gray sweater thing who is standing behind of the guy who is sitting besdie me, was asking me a bunch of questions... Then she told me that she likes practicing English...

I got some information about the lifting up of car wipers incident.... and based on my investigation... I was told that this specific area is home to some weird Japanese people in the Niimi ...I heard that people even found stuff missing in their apartment... Not any foreigners though.... And I am guessing (based on how the people from the church I attend behave, which is in this area) ... that these are the traditional, possibly very conservative Japanese people who are not sure how to deal with foreigners..... I could be wrong though.... I plan to do some more detailed investigating...

Yeah Richard when mi did a lef from di place weh dem lif up mi wipers...I was scanning the area...and mi did si dis man a look pon mi...him is a suspect but mi neva si him face good... mi memba weh him live though...

Day 425 { Swine Flu Hits Japan / Game Review Addition } Monday, May 18, 2009

Day 425 { Swine Flu Hits Japan / Game Review Addition }
Today the camnet owner guy who I send my radio show program to, sent me an email basically saying that I should please continue supporting them...... In other words, he is also saying that I am late in sending in my show.... Well I plan to support them until December but that's it... I really don't see what sense this is making at all..... Its too tiring....

Yesterday I got a bill for 7200 yen and I was wondering what in the world was this for.... So when I went to bible study, I asked them what in the world was it... they said its my car tax... I had no clue that I should pay a yearly tax for my car..... I am fortunate though that its a small car because if it was a big one....Then I would be paying something like 20,000 - 40,000 yen I think....... The worst thing is that you only get a short time to pay it... They send you the bill today, and they want the money next week......Look at the time they choose to send it!!!!....When its going close to the end of the month....

I also found out today at bible study that Swine flu (Buta Influenza) has managed to reach on Japan's soil.... as a matter of fact, the number of domestic swine flu cases reached 140 in Hyogo (which is the prefecture that is next to mine) and Osaka as of this evening..... This has prompted fears of an epidemic and has lead to calls from the two governors to shut down all schools in the prefectures and for the central government to do more. The full story maybe found here
http://search.japantimes.co.jp/cgi-bin/nn20090519a1.html

Richard is only 1 show mi duh already...Mi just finish the second season... As soon as di camera man gi mi di DVD mi a guh put up a clip.......

On the girl computer, the blue screen boot sounds like the problem.... Do I need to freshly format a hard drive then load the O/S for it to stop that blue screen thing???? I always thought that as long as the Hard disk had the O/S on it, It could work in any computer without it having to be formatted.....

Ok so I have decided to put a little game evaluation to my blog every now and again....Don't worry, its not everyday.... What I will do evry now and then when my days are boring and I have little to write, is evaluate some of my favourite games over the years.....

The first one is Mario Land 1 for the Gameboy... this classic game is the third all time best selling mario game of all time... and has sold over 18 million copies.... only super mario 1 for the nintendo and Super mario world for the super nintendo has out sold it...

Game play (how to actually play the game) ..........................3/3

Mission difficulty................................................................. 2/3

Fun factor............................................................................4/4

My overall rating 9/10

At the time for me, some of the levels were too difficult and if all of your men died at the final stage...then you will have to start form the beginning of the level.... And if you should ever make the mistake of turning off the gameboy...well you will have to start it from the very first level...

Day 424 { Game Head / Watch Men } Sunday, May 17, 2009

Day 424 { Game Head /WATCHMEN }

Today I went to a restaurant name TIMEZ with one of my friends in the town where I live... I had Japanese style curried chicken and she had curried shrimp..... It was absolutely fantastic in my estimate.....Today I also downloaded a couple of PSP and PS3 demos...and I received the God of War-Chains of Olympus PSP game that I ordered online on Wednesday....Yeah I know many people didn't know that I was this much of a game head but I have been like this for as far as I can remember myself...But the only gaming systems that I have actually owned outside of a computer are:

Supervision - A failed gaming system that I bought in about 1995...
Sega Genesis - That I got from my dad in about 1996
PS1 - That my friend bought for me in the USA in 1999
PS3 - September 2008
PSP - May 2009

All the other major gaming systems that you can think about are on my Laptop as emulators...Well except the dreamcast...

Today I watched this movie known as watchmen.... And I guess because I was not a fan of the old animation series, it was quite a bit dull and boring to me... A couple of my friends in my area told me that it was really good.... But I guess to each their own...Because I didn't enjoy it in the least... As a matter of fact, I slept several times while it was going on..... I also launched an investigation into the "lifting up of foreigner's car wipers" incident that I heard have been taking place around the area where my other friends live...... I will see how far this goes...

Day 423 { Jamaipanese Blog } Saturday, May 16, 2009

Day 423 { Jamaipanese Blog }

Today I decided to stay in because of rain... At one point I didn't even notice that the rain was falling, and I left my clothes to dry on the outside... I had to quickly run and get them.

While I was browsing the web today, I happened upon this blog by a Jamaican guy who is a Japan enthusiast... This guy has never been to Japan but he really really really wants to come here... He even seem to know more about the Japanese culture than me who is here for over a year now...
Here is his site:

Day 422 { Wind Shield Wipers up } Friday, May 15, 2009

Day 422 { Wind Shield Wipers up / DELL Laptops }

Forced myself out of bed and actually got to this far school about 10-15 minutes before start time... I told the Vice principal and the office lady good morning... The Vice principal then asked me if mornings are my weak point... and I told her yes and that mornings are very difficult.... She said she noticed it in my tone of voice.... I didn't know that it was so obvious.

Later on, one of the new girls around here, asked me to check her laptop because it seem as if her hard drive went bad......While I was at her apartment, she looked outside and noticed that my car wind shield wipers were up...... I know that I definitely didn't do this so I asked her how the heck did it happen.... She said that there are many kids around the area but she can't confirm for sure if its them who did it.... she also said that it has happened to several persons who live on that block of apartment.... But only the foreigners !!! Some crazy Japanese person(s) again....... Now I am curious and I am tempted to go back around there just to see who the heck is doing this.... whether adult or child.....

Anyway, I took the laptop back to my apartment and changed the hard drive but it kept re-starting... I tried yet another hard drive and it still kept restarting the laptop.... However, with her hard drive, the laptop is simply not recognising a bootable drive instead of constantly restarting...... she said all of this started yesterday when she was downloading something on the internet.... I am thinking that maybe its a virus that is on the machine and messed up some stuff or that because its a DELL, It don't recognise other hard drives that wasn't purchased directly from DELL.... But then, one of the hard drives that I tried, was the exact brand (Western Digital) as the one that came with her laptop... So I am wondering if DELL can actually lock a hard drive to their machine... hmmmm What do you think Richard??? Or any other computer person that is reading this???

Day 421 { My Parking Space } Thursday, May 14, 2009

Day 421 { My School Parking Space }

This morning after running out of my apartment and rushing to my far school again, there was some guy in my parking space... So to make sure that I got in at exactly 9:00am, I parked parallel to the principal's office and ran like crazy inside the school. But there was the Vice principal sweeping up the yard who already saw me and shouted "Ohayo Gozaimasu" (Good Morning)... I replied but was still rushing... After a while this same vice principal came and asked me why I parked where I did.... But quickly she realised why and apologised for me having to park there.... she was then wondering why I was rushing like that... then aparently she glimpsed the clocked and said something to the effect like "oooh you wanted to be on time" ... Then she basically said she know that the schools are very difficult when it comes on to time....I didn't even reply to what she said but smiled instead...

Today I missed football again because im trying to heal ... But I did jog yesterday though after I got back to my apartment.....I jogged a little further than Monday... When I got back to my apartment today though...All I did was update this blog and then knocked out at about 11:30 pm which is quite unusual for me...

Day 420 { Final Video Shoot For Season 2 } Wednesday, May 13, 2009

Day 420 { Final Video Shoot For Season 2 }

I went to my furthest school today and it was difficult...I got there exactly on time because I am too tired in the mornings.... the worst thing is that I am going to have to go to this school on Thursday and Friday of this week as well..... Normally it would be only once or twice depending on the week.....Ohh boyyy... and I haven't slept properly since last Friday.
I really love the kids at this school but its just sooo darn farrr...

after work today, I got some air in my tyres then went for the video shoot... I actually stop studying the script before hand now, because its very easy for me..... the video shoot took about 30 mins maximum....Again the Camera man and the director guy were laughing none stop at my stupidity... I hope one day they will start paying me for this....

After the video shoot I went to the Wednesday English Conversation where my Japanese friend said she was in an accident, along with her parents... She said a Bike guy hit the car they were in and he fell off the bike... She said she have a whip lash now...

Day 419 { Paypal / Ebay / New PSP Game} Friday, May 12, 2009

Day 419 { Paypal / Ebay / New PSP Game}

Today I tried to purchase a PSP game name "God of War" On-line via Ebay... when I tried, Paypal placed a limitation on my account saying that someone has illegally tried to hack in my account.... I was wondering why on earth did that happened... But when I checked it out, I saw that it was because my ebay account has my Japanese address as the shipping address, while paypal has my Jamaican address as my shipping address... So I tried to create a secondary address on both my ebay and my paypal accounts, but they don't allow you to have an address in 2 different countries.....

So, I ended up calling paypal in the night because of the time difference... And they explained everything sbout not being able to have 2 accounts and not being able to have a different address in 2 different countries...... They then took off the limit from my account and said I should try to open an account for Japan.....
I then purchased the game online and the seller shipped it off very speedily...I should get it in about 7 days...

Later I went to the Tuesday English conversation stuff where my Indonesian friend was doing a presentation on Indonesian Language....

Yeah Panton the Kill Zone 2 look madddd star, it look like mi have to guh buy it.... Trust mi yute, yuh don't want to guh to Akihabara in Tokyo... Yuh money done in seconds and still don't want to leave...

Day 418 { New Kindergarten Start / Start Jogging } - Monday, May 11, 2009

Day 418 { New Kindergarten Start / Start Jogging }

I was surprised by my main school today with information about me teaching at the Kindergarten school today...My company didn't even inform me of this decision... So I eventually went, not knowing how long I would teach for nor knowing what I would teach... But I thought as much that it would only be self introduction...I however ended up going and introducing myself....and talked a little bit about Jamaica...then did some "how are you" exercises... There were about 40 - 50 children between the ages of 4-6.... I was trying to interact with them individually by making them touch my hand...and this one little kid moved away from me in fright...

After jumping around with them for about 1 hour...it was time to go... And that was when one of the 3 teachers there finally decided to tell me that it should have only been there 45 minutes.... why didn't she stop me and I was sooo tired???..... While going away, about 7 kids were following me and saying good bye good bye while touching my hands ... and the teachers had to stop them or else they would have followed me all the way. When the teacher stopped one of the kids, she started to cry... I could not believe this... I don't even know this kid who is crying after me...

I then went back to the main school, did one more class then went home... ..... I then went to bible study where one of the members was pregnant and is about to have a baby anytime between now and the next 3 weeks......After bible study I went jogging... I am starting up a rigorous jogging and sit ups schedule for myself because I see where my stomach is getting a little paunch.... and this cannot work when I am not yet married... After marriage is fine :) but before... NO NO!!! ... Today is the first, and I plan to jog every Monday, Wednesday and Friday....

Day 417 { Akihabara, Tokyo / More Games / One Love Concert Second Half } - May 10, 2009

Day 417 { Akihabara, Tokyo / More Games / One Love Concert Second Half }

Left out with Masami from Ochanomizu at about 10am... And we were heading to a place in Tokyo that has many electronic and game stores and anime stuff everywhere....This area is known as

Akihabara

and its like 5-7 minutes walk from her apartment. While we were going there, a very very big festival in Japan was going on, known as KANDA Matsuri and is in the top 3 largest festivals in Japan... This thing has been happening since 1603 and is held every 2 years (odd number years). While in the crowd of people, I was surprised when I saw this Japanese man who was in something like a brief and holding a child said "Rispek mon".... I stuttered in shock and replied saying "Rispek rispek boss" Rispek (Jamaican Patois) = Respect (English)

Here is the video clip of the Kanda Festival

After watching the festival for a while, I decided to look around this area in Japan where there are tonnes of technology store outlets... This area is the Otaku (Nerd) centre of Japan...... And it is sooo wrong to bring me at a place like this..... I didn't even know where to turn my head... Its just a big clash of:

technology,

games,

beautiful Japanese girls and

Japanese animation stuff...

If you really like even 1 of the above, then Akihabara can be a difficult place for you.... And the more of them you like, the more difficult it will be for you if you come here....
I however refuse to comment on how many of them I like :)

Anyway, I ended up going to a popular store in Japan name sofmap and bought 4 Playstation 3 games :( .... They are

Blade Storm
Dark Kingdom
Resistance 1
The Elder's Scroll 4 - Oblivion

Then while I was heading back to the One Love festival, I thought that the train ride back to Okayama is going to be long... And I would like something to occupy my time...So silly me with little self control when it comes on to technology stuff and games, turned back and bought a PSP :( :) I am almost 100% sure that if I was in Jamaica, I would not have done anything like this... I did say ALMOST 100% sure...While I was in one of the stores, I met this American guy who has blondish rasta hair... He was playing Kill Zone 2 in the store and said that its pretty good but think it would be better on a PC... I told him that I need to run away out of the store because I don't want to spend all my money... He then said he need to do the same thing as well....

After essentially wasting my money on these stupid things, I went with Masami to yoyogi park... We watched a few acts to conclude the one love festival at yoyogi park... One of the acts was a bunch of Half Japanese and Half Jamaican children dancing on stage... Here is a video clip of it...

Usaine Bolt's signed sneakers was also being raffled here...

Ahh I can't stop thanking Masami for her kindness and willingness to follow me to all these places from yesterday... I ended up leaving yoyogi park at about 3:30pm... Me and my other Jamaican friend who lives in Hiroshima.... We took the train with Masami to the Tokyo station...then me and my Hiroshima friend took the Shinkansen (Bullet train) back to our different cities... While on the shinkansen, I opened my PSP and started playing Final Fantasy for the PSP. I got to Okayama city at 8:00 am... So the train took exactly 3hrs and 30 mins.... The bus would have taken 10 hrs and I heard that a plane would take about 2 hrs.... Anyway, I got off the train before my friend who was heading for Hiroshima but I would get to my apartment later than her......Thats because of how deep in the country of Japan I live... I ended up reaching my apartment at 10:45 pm.

Ohh Richard... I forgot to write that the Brazilian guy who I should have met, actually called me back on the same day to say that he was just coming back from Korea with his family.....and was apologising... Hiss teet.... But as you said, maybe if he was around, I would not have seen the cool dolphin show and stuff that I saw.
