Stayed in all day today playing Call of Duty 4 - Modern Warfare 2.

Day 838 { 10 Books Sold }
Monday, July 5, 2010

Went to books freeway book store in Niimi, where my books are, to check how many books had already been sold. To my surprise, already 9 had been bought, and my friend made a lady buy one, right in front of my face :) Honestly, far better than what I expected. So 20 is left there now. Although I really hope some of the students from the college purchase it, I highly doubt any of them will, especially because it is test time now, but I don't know. I get surprises in this place very often, so anything is possible.

Sold three (3) of my books at bible study in the night, and about 4 other persons are also requesting for next week. If I continue like this, I don't know how many I will get to take to Virginia.... But at the same time, the lighter my suitcase is, the better.

Day 839 { Surprise Visit }

Tuesday, July 6, 2010

One of my female Japanese friends appeared at my apartment this morning, unannounced at about 8:15 am while I was getting ready to depart for work. I was quite surprised, firstly that she came without informing me, secondly at that time she came, thirdly, I haven't heard a single word from her in over a month and fourthly the reason why she came. She wanted a free signed copy of my book. So I gave her.

Coming from work, I was almost involved in an accident. I went through a yellow light and this impatient fool wanted to turn before the light went green for him. That really tested my car brake. He shouted something but I didn't understand what he said. I should have driven him down and when he got out of the car and see me, I would have loved to see his reaction....

Went to the English conversation thing in the night and watched a former nursing student do a presentation on the 6 months she spent in Australia.

Day 840 { Table Tennis }

Wednesday, July 7, 2010

Stopped by a coffee shop near to my apartment today. This was the first place that I gave my flier to. The owner said he wanted one of my books, so I went to my apartment and took 2 of them with me. He bought one, then a friend of his bought the other one that I took.

I then went to play table tennis at a Jr. high school in the city. The men who come there all seem to be in their 50s or older, except for me and this other monk guy. Before I started playing, one of the old guys started to show me the proper way to stand and the proper way to hold the table tennis racket etc. I was getting a bit impatient with him because I started to wonder why in Japan everything seem to have some sort of rule or special technique to apply before doing it...

But actually, when I followed what he said, I realized that I played much better than how I normally would..

Day 841
Thursday, July 8, 2010

After work, I went to sleep a little earlier than normal. I then woke up and played football at the usual place. For the first time in a very long time, I scored 3 goals on the opposing team.

Day 842 {More Books Sold}
Friday, July 9, 2010

A teacher who didn't even showed any enthusiasm towards buying my book, actually showed me that he purchased a copy. The others who seemed to be excited however, I doubt that they bought. Another paradox of Japan. I was never expecting this particular teacher to buy one at all... At the same time, I wasn't really buying into the excitement of the others... Because why? This is Japan.

Went to the cake shop today to purchase a cake for the bible study lady. Tomorrow is her birthday but the Friday evening conversation people are keeping something for her tonight. The cake owner guy bought one of my books as well.

I then went to karate then to the English conversation thing and gave the lady the cake.

I then went to one of the local snack bars and the owner bought 6 of my books right there and made a guy at the bar buy one as well. I thanked her profusely. I stayed there and did karaoke and I had a really good time there.
