Day 3138 (House Blessing)
Saturday, January 14, 2017

Nope that's not me to the left and no that's not my house

A Jamaican tradition when you move into a new house or buy a new car is to get it blessed by a pastor. So we did that today.

Day 3145 (1 AC installed)
Saturday, January 21, 2017

Got one of our air condition units installed today. The entire thing took about 2 hours and it was really loud!! Also got some sensor lights installed outside.

Day 3152 (Relocation Day)
Saturday, January 28, 2017

So yeah, we moved into the house today. And it was quite a busy day. I didn't realize we accumulated so many stuff in just one year. It was a bit stressful to be honest but it all turned out well. Good team work with me and Takako.

Day 3153 (No Internet or TV station for you, says Neighbors)
Saturday, January 29, 2017

So NTT came today to set up some wires for us to get internet and also so we can watch local TV. What we didn't know is that NTT has to ask the neighbors with the NTT pole beside their house, if it's ok to set up the wires etc.

Ha. The NTT guy came back to us saying that the neighbors said they don't want anymore wires on the pole beside their house, because too many birds are landing on the wires and all manner of stuff. We told the NTT guy, "hey we will go have a word with the neighbors" ... The NTT guy said no, he doesn't want any bad blood between us and the neighbors and the fault would be NTT's. So just let it be for now.

They said they will have to use another pole but that will take about a week for them to verify and do all manner of paperwork and what not. I didn't even know that it was possible for neighbors to say no about using a pole that isn't theirs.... One more week without TV or proper internet. Luckily Takako had a portable internet thing and that's what we used.

Day 3154 (Old Apartment Bye Bye)
Monday, January 30, 2017

Met with the Apartment agency people today for them to tell us our final cleaning cost etc. Ha. A guy came from the agency to our now empty apartment and checked every door, every room, every window and every corner of the apartment. We thought we were going to get back some money from our initial down payment, but we ended up having to pay more money. Why? Well, we had a small scratch on the loft that cost about 6000 yen (US $55) to fix plus our sofa left a mark on the wall that cost about 8000 yen (US $75) to fix. In addition to the actual cleaning cost. Adding up all of that came up to over 100,000 yen!!!

After we agreed to pay, I heard that this is actually what these apartment agency people do. Jack up the cleaning cost. Anyway, we agreed and that's that.

Day 3162 ( Hotel Dinner Date)
Tuesday, February 7, 2017

My friends Big Mike and Rochelle, won a prize for a video they created about Japan. The focus was Toyama prefecture I believe. However, their prize was a dinner at a hotel in Shinjuku, Tokyo. They live all the way in Toyama, so they gave us the dinner ticket instead.

I believe this was the video that won the contest.

So me and Takako had dinner at a pretty posh hotel in Shinjuku.

Day 3169 (Valentine's Day 2017)
Tuesday, February 14, 2016

Another Valentine's Day in Japan. I got so many chocolates from random people. Because in Japan, the females are supposed to give the males chocolate or gifts but on March 14 (white day) the men are suppose to give the women gifts.

I actually bought some lilies for Takako.

Day 3175 (Meeting a Friend from Toyama)
Monday, February 20, 2017

Met up with my Canadian friend, Brandon living in Toyama today after work. We had a long interesting chat in Fridays Yokohama. He actually has a couple of my students now, that I had when I was back in Toyama.

Day 3177 (First Visitors to our Place)
Monday, February 22, 2017

The same Big Mike and Rochelle that I mentioned earlier, actually visited our place tonight. They had some business to take care of in Tokyo, so they stayed by us for the night. We had a loong talk with them.

Day 3179 (First Playing Soccer since 2015!)
Friday, February 24, 2017

A friend from church told me that he plays soccer once a month. I really love soccer but just can't seem to get the chance or the time to play. The last time I played was around October 2015. Those guys still play but they start at 9PM!!!

So today, even though I was tired after work, and it was really cold, I decided I wasn't going to miss this at all. Trust me, it was reallllly cold.

Day 3180 (Riddim and Rime BHM Event in Roppongi)
Friday, February 24, 2017

Today I was the MC for another event. And again watch me advertising after the event...

I was really encouraged by hearing the stories of many people living in Japan for many years, how they went through different and really difficult seasons and how they conquered negativity etc. Some became managers, some business owners, some translators in big Japanese banks etc. It was quite encouraging. I am happy I was able to MC this program and have a great time there. I even got to perform with ....... Takako.

Day 3181 (Second Visitors to our place)
Saturday, February 25, 2017

My good friends visited our place today.

After this, I went to sort out some tax returns stuff at the local tax office.

Had dinner with some co-workers today after work.

Day 3186 (Karaoke Night)
Thursday, March 2, 2017

I love karaoke, and I haven't gone since my wedding. So when some peeps from my office invited me, I decided that I will definitely be going. Got some other co-workers to join and we had a whale of a time. A bit pricy but it was worth it.
